The first floor houses exhibits relating to the printer's trade
- and has been bustling with visitors ever since the Museum's
inception. The history of printing - from hot-metal composition
to filmsetting - provides an illustrative example of the emergence
and eventual disappearance of an entire profession in the course
of industrialization. The workshops, all of them in operation,
which contain a composing-room and printing-works, as well as
a lithographer's workshop and a large area reserved for supplementary
information (lectures, slide-shows, etc.) offer ample opportunity
for active participation.
